Sharing some Mother's Day wisdom

For Moms everywhere and the kids who are celebrating them today, here are a couple of thoughts you might want to consider as you rush out this morning to pick up a gift, because you were convinced Mother's Day was next weekend, not this one.

Number one:  Things you should never allow kids to give their mothers (or should you give yours).
No. VERY bad idea
A lawnmower. (Would replace Dad. Bad idea)

A cookbook. (She'll see it as an insult to her orange and parsley meatball casserole)

Hedge trimmer. (Another potential Dad replacement or a comment about her leg-shaving habits)

A puppy. (A potential replacement for YOU.)

All the obvious things. Kids picking gifts when little is kind of a mistake anyway because most moms aren't big fans of Hotwheels or Barbies. They have to pick them up off the floor all the time or stepping on them when going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Legos are completely off the list. I heard a rumor that the government wants to replace water boarding with barefooted Lego walking.

Number two: For husbands, should you give your wife a gift on Mother's Day? She's not YOUR mother, after all...

This is a toughie and I have mixed feelings on this one. I always believed when the kids were little to get the gift for the wifey and have them sign a card, or make cookies or something. The bad thing is getting the wrong gift and then getting THE LOOK. How was I supposed to know that certain perfumes cause a rash?

Not sure if this is going to be of much help to anyone, but if you've got ideas about what NOT to get your Mom, I'd love to hear them.

And in the meantime, Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there.

Take care,

Scott

 HIRED HELP

 S.L. Carpenter and Sahara Kelly
Now available - Only $0.99, and ready for your eReader.

Working Stiffs, Hired HelpBeing a bodyguard for a rich widow is a pretty good gig for Mel Kent, a guy who can certainly guard just about anyone’s body. However, he probably doesn’t lust after them the way he lusts for Rose Jackson. She’s young, bright and everything he wants - but can’t have. After all, she’s in charge of a multi-million dollar corporation and he’s just the hired help.
Rose is more than a little aware of the hunk of masculine perfection guarding her body. She’s indulged in a few fantasies herself, time permitting. Now that she has chance to take a night off, she decides to scratch that itch the professional way - at an exclusive resort where pleasure is the only goal. It’s expensive, but ...

Excerpt-
Rose strolled to the buffet that lined one wall and gazed at the mass of scented candles, then let her fingers drift over the tasteful selection of high-end glossy magazines, her thoughts still on Mel.
He’s good at his job.
He spoke little, was as unobtrusive as a shadow, and yet…lately she’d noticed something in his eyes when they met hers.
He looks at me like he’s interested. Like he wants to take my clothes off and check me for bugs. And I think I’d let him. Which is entirely the fault of being celibate for too long.
Maybe she was imagining it. He’d been by her side, protecting her ever since her husband had been felled by an aneurism and left her in sole control of Jackson Enterprises. Now that she fit the description of incredibly rich widow, she supposed she needed a bodyguard. She had taken over the reins of the business, developed new campaigns and worked hard on new leads over the past eighteen months. She’d proved herself worthy of the CEO position she’d inherited - but at one hell of a cost.
To accomplish her goals, she’d sacrificed herself in a variety of ways…no social life, no parties, no adventurous foreign vacations…not even a shopping trip down Fifth Avenue more than once every six months or so. Sometimes she’d had to remind herself to shower. It had been all work, all the time. Deaf to the entreaties of her friends, she’d hunkered down in her office, and only now could she come up for air, breathe, and take a few hours for herself. The work was still there, but she had it running the way she wanted at last, with people she could rely on taking some of the burden from her shoulders.
Of course, the change in her situation and her new accessibility brought about its own share of problems.
Not a day passed without a friend approaching her bearing a suggestion. Often it was for a blind date, or occasionally it was the phone number of some businessman they knew who wanted to take her to dinner. Which was all well and good, but not anything Rose was particularly interested in. Even though the last couple of years had been spent in near-hermitlike isolation, she wasn’t a fool and had a well-developed streak of practicality.
She knew she couldn’t trust anyone to go out with her as Rose and not Ms. Jackson, rich widow. Doubtless those men existed. But she’d rather be safe than sorry. A woman in her position only gave her trust to those who absolutely earned it. Or to those whose discretion she’d purchased.
Which had brought her here, to this up-market and discreet hideaway. A place where she was going to rediscover a side of herself she’d buried and damn near forgotten about.
A place where she intended to let a man take her body and pleasure it, use his skills to bring her joy, excitement and - she hoped - at least one eye-rolling, scream inducing, stress releasing, toe-curling orgasm.
Maybe even two.

OPEN HOUSE

(Working Stiffs #2) Open HouseFilling in for a vacationing salesman isn’t Jeff McAdams’ idea of weekend fun. But he’s the architect of the development, so sitting in a model home and attempting to sell visitors on the ideas he’s incorporated into his designs - it’s something he doesn’t really mind doing.
It gets a bit more challenging when his partner (and father) announces they’ve hired a new design team. Jeff takes it in stride, since he knows when it comes to the fancy stuff, he’s no expert. Give him a ruler, a set of blueprints and an idea. Leave the soaps and toss pillows to someone else.
That someone else arrives late that afternoon. And when she walks upstairs she takes Jeff’s breath away. It’s Gabriella Rossini, the one girl he could never forget. Within seconds the heat between them flares and Jeff and Gaby soon realize that sometimes embers can simmer for years without dying.
And when rekindled, the ensuing flame could be hot enough to singe their eyebrows. Hmm. Something’s burning in this Open House - and it's not the optional gas fireplace…

Sweet, Sexy, Scorching Blog Hop!!

I will be participating in the Sweet Sexy Scorching Summer Giveaway Hop on Monday September 3rd. Come stop by, comment, and find the "Guess Who" post. Lots of great prizes to be had.

Sweet Sexy Scorching Summer Giveaway Hop!
My Secret Romance (Taryn), The Smutty Kitty (Kitty Kelly) and Day Dreaming (Dawn) have joined together to create a blog hop to promote erotic books.

There has been a lot of hype in the media lately regarding "mommy porn" books and the use of ereaders to hid what we're reading. The media portrays it as "offensive and abusive" to woman.  While we love our ereaders something fierce, it doesn't mean we're ashamed to be reading our smutty books. In fact, we love erotic books and want to share it!

Here are the details:

This blog hop will be similar to the game 'name that tune' only readers will be guessing an authors character. Each blogger will have a post dedicated to the author of the day (That's Me on 9/3), but only one blogger will have the 'Who am I' post. The rest of the blogs will have character hints, possible reviews, lines/quotes, blurbs or excerpts from books. Only twelve blogs will be participating. At the end of each week, there will be one winner chosen, making it five winners a week and then one grand prize winner at the end.

Please email us at SSSbloghop@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

This is a Blog Hop!
1. My Secret Romance  5. Close Encounters with the Night Kind  9. My Odd Little World
2. Aestas Book Blog  6. Swept Away By Romance  10. Blackraven's Erotic Cafe

Travelin' Man

Hi Ho Kiddies.
I know I haven't been around a lot, in fact not much at all.
There's been a log going on and I'm on the roller coaster of life so I do apologize for not talking much but my darling Dawn ha been kicking me to share more with all you great followers and readers.

Firstly - THANK YOU to everyone that read and commented on HIRED HELP.
Had some great fun and I am diligently working on MY follow up that I plan to make hotter and funner. I always strive to have fun with sex. That's why I have puppets and binoculars.

Secondly - There are going to be some new blogs and giveaways coming through so keep your eyes open and fingers ready to type. A lot of my friends are in these loops and free books and stuff are always good.

Thirdly - I am traveling now and melting in my chair as I sit in Arizona. Sahara Kelly and I are meeting with the RWA Desert Rose Chapter and talking about cover art and other fun stuff. It'll be fun to spend a few days with Sahara we only see each other a few times a year. That and I get to see one of my favorite authors, Cheyenne McCray.

I plan to take pictures and share them Wednesday or Thursday. Here's a picture in the hotel. It's of my nutsack.

So this being Monday I have to wish you all a happy Monday. Which is actually a double negative because Monday's suck.

Take care,

Scott

I WHIPPED IT OUT AGAIN

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY (a day early)
I waited a few days to make sure everything was ready to talk about.
I have a new book out.
HIRED HELP.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008B7RMLY/ref=cm_sw_r_fa_alp_U9C2pb06E2GAE
It's at Smashords, kindle, ARE, everywhere
That's right...a present to all the women out there to inspire them to take care of the Father's.
Typical male attitude. Make women happy so they will make us guys happy.
It's a little 99cent story I wrote with Sahara Kelly to start a series we are going to be writing together and separately.
I hope you get a chance to check it out.
There's a plot to it but mostly steamy sex and fun. Just what you expect.
Hope everyone reads it and acts out some of the acts on the men in their life.
I'm giving my wife a special unedited copy so I can bring the squeaky toys in the bedroom.

BACK TO THE GRIND

Just ending my weeklong vacation.
MAN IT SUCKS.
Had graduations, Birthday Parties and other graduation parties to go to.
But what is always funny about vacations is you end up spending more money and getting less things you WANT to do done that going back to work is a break.
What a sick way to live.
I'm actually getting back into writing.
Have a few little stories flipping around in my feeble mind so I'm happy about that.

I always like asking questions so this time I'd like to know where would you go for the ultimate vacation?

It's about time

Been a crazy few weeks.
Working insane overtime but the wifey needs new things so I better work.
See...well trained.

Had some good and bad this week.
Bad - HOUSE tv show is done. Liked the show a lot and was one of the better finales of a series.
Good - Kris Allen came out with a new cd. There are a lot of fans of Adam Lambert but I always liked this guys style of music better.

Not a lot of news to share. Kids graduating from schools, working like a mad man on art, started writing a western (Don't worry, it's all ME so it's a semi spoof).
But didn't want you all to think I fell off the planet...again. Last time was a mess.

Anyone have any fun vacations planned for the summer?

I'm Back

Yes it's been a while and in typical male fashion...I forgot to call, or post for that matter.
RT was a blast. I met a lot of new people and saw many friends I only see once a year.
The readers I met were great. I handed out a LOT of flash buttons but didn't get to flash anyone. I guess the law calls that indent exposure.

I plan to post a bunch of the pictures and send out the bag of goodies I picked up.
My DAWN also informed me I need to resend a package a winner of a contest didn't get.
I hate it when my package gets lost. Nothing sadder tan a man misplacing his package. That's why my wife puts mine in the freezer next to the frozen peas and carrots.

Long story.
So keep a look out for more posts about things.

I did have a question though.
The big topic at RT was the "50 SHADES OF GREY" books.
Have any of you read the book and what are your thoughts on it?
I'd love to hear about it.

Joke

TRIPLETS

A woman pregnant with triplets is walking down the street when a masked robber runs out the bank and shoots her three times in the stomach.
Luckily the babies are okay.
The surgeon decides to leave the bullets in because it's too risky to operate.
All is fine for 16 years, and then one daughter walks into the room in tears. "What's wrong" asks the mother.
"I was taking pee and this bullet came out" replies the daughter.
The mother tells her it's okay and explains what happened 16 years ago. About a week later the second daughter walks in to the room in tears. "Mom, I was taking pee and this bullet came out". Again the mother tells her not to worry and explains what happened 16 years ago.
A week later the boy walks into the room in tears. "It's okay" says the mom, "I know what happened, you were taking a pee and a bullet came out."
"No," says the boy, "I was jerking off and I shot the dog."

24 HOURS

A man returns from the doctor and tells his wife that the doctor has told him he has only 24 hours to live. Given this prognosis, the man asks his wife for sex. Naturally, she agrees, and they make love.
About six hours later, the husband goes to his wife and says, "Honey, you know I now have only 18 hours to live. Could we please do it one more time?" Of course, the wife agrees, and they do it again.
Later, as the man gets into bed, he looks at his watch and realizes that he now has only 8 hours left. He touches his wife shoulder, and asks, "Honey, please...just one more time before die." She says, "Of course, Dear," and they make love for the third time.
After this session, the wife rolls over and falls asleep. The man, however, worried about his impending death, tosses and turns, until he's down to 4 more hours.
He taps his wife, who rouses. "Honey, I have only 4 more hours. Do you think we could..."
At this point the wife sits up and says, "Listen, I have to get up in the morning. You don't!"

It's coming...stand back

Next week is RT.
One of my favorite conferences.
It's all about the thing I like.
Writing, eating bad food, art, lectures and hanging out in a bar until closing and talking to people about how all the sex scenes you write really happened.

I see my friends, authors, people I work with and mainly all the readers.
I LOVE talking to readers about what they like about the books.
You are all the reason why I write.

So remember if you see me there ask me to flash you.
That's right, I'm going to be there flashing people.
Hopefully the cops won't mind.

You'll all see what I mean when there.

I'm so excited.

Jokes

After three years of marriage, Kim was still questioning her husband about his lurid past.

"C'mon, tell me," she asked for the thousandth time, "how many women have you slept with?"

"Baby," he protested, "if I told you, you'd throw a fit".

Kim promised she wouldn't get angry, and convinced her hubby to tell her.

"Okay," he said, "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven - then there's you - nine, ten, 11, 12, 13..

A husband and wife were sitting watching a TV program about psychology when he turned to his wife and said, "Honey, I bet you can't tell me something that will make me happy and sad at
the same time."

She said, "You have a bigger dick than all of your friends."

Tick Tock

Know it's been a while since I posted.

Not a lot of news other than the few conferences and places I went to.
Funny how little time you find for yourself when you're working all the time.
I have basically become a vampire and live on late nights.
At least I don't sparkle in the sunlight.

I had a lot of fun in Arizona and met a bunch of people.
Thanks to everyone that joined us in the St. Patricks Day blog hop.
All us writers had a lot of fun and I was happy to see all the comments made on my post and the poem.

It's coming up on that time again.
RT is next month.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you readers there.
I'll have a bunch of my buttons and whatever other kind of goodies I can dig up.
If you're going I'd love to hear who's going.

6 Old Ladies

One day, while walking to the store, I passed by a Nursing Home.
On the front lawn were 6 old ladies laying naked on the grass.
I thought this was a bit unusual, but continued on my way to the store.
On my return trip, I passed the same Nursing Home with the same 6 old ladies laying naked on the lawn.
This time my curiosity got the best of me and I went inside to talk to the manager.
"Do you know there are 6 ladies laying naked on your front lawn?"
"Yes," he said. "They are retired prostitutes and they're having a yard sale."

Take care,
Scott
